JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  A public hearing at the Jacksonville City Council meeting on anti-discrimination legislation for Jacksonville's gay community stretched in to the early hours Wednesday morning.

While there was no vote on the bill scheduled, more than 100 people got up to speak on the bill.

Several people spoke out against it, but the majority of speakers spoke for the bill and why they think the council needs to pass it.

Also at the meeting, Councilmen Bill Bishop and Bill Gulliford were selected without dissent to be the City Council's next president and vice president.

On the agenda were Councilwoman Kim Daniels, who wanted a vote of no confidence against City General Counsel Cindy Laquidara, and a protest was planned to divert city funding for an Aquatic Center to a CSX project.
