Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Mark Eaton capped his 600th NHL game with the winner at the 2:35 mark of overtime to lift the New York Islanders past Ottawa, 2-1, at Scotiabank Place. Eaton was in the right place at the right time on the right side to accept a Milan Jurcina pass and backhand the puck past an out-of-position Craig Anderson to end the contest. Matt Martin also tallied and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 23 shots for the Islanders, who had lost two in a row. Zack Smith scored for the Senators, who returned home following a six-game road trip but lost their fifth straight outing. Anderson finished with 30 saves

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Scott Clemmensen turned away 20 shots and the Florida Panthers expanded their lead in the Southeast Division with a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at BankAtlantic Center. Kris Versteeg and Sean Bergenheim supplied the goals for the Panthers, who have won three of their last four games. Florida, which improved to 13-5-7 at home, moved three points ahead of second- place Washington in the division standings. The Jets are five points off the pace. Bryan Little had the lone goal for Winnipeg, which was vying for its first three-game winning streak as the visitor since December 4-13, 2010. The Jets fell to 2-3-0 on their six-game road trip. Chris Mason made 28 saves in defeat.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Jaroslav Halak stopped all 22 shots he faced to post his fifth shutout of the season as St. Louis edged Los Angeles, 1-0, at Scottrade Center. Jamie Langenbrunner's second-period tally stood as the deciding goal for the Blues, who reached the 30-win plateau by stopping a two- game slide. Jonathan Quick made 32 saves for the Kings, whose two-game win streak came to an end.
