Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - London Giles scored 17 points to lead the SMU
Mustangs to a 64-50 victory over the Tulane Green Wave in a Conference USA
matchup at Moody Coliseum.
For the Mustangs (12-16, 3-10 C-USA), Leslee Smith pulled down 11 rebounds and
Jeremia Samarrippas dished out seven assists.
Ricky Tarrant led the Green Wave (15-12, 3-10) with 21 points, while Josh
Davis grabbed 11 rebounds.
SMU shot well from the start, connecting on 52.4 percent of its shots from the
field in the first half. Tulane struggled, making just 25 percent of its
shots, including missing all but one of their nine three-point attempts, as
the Mustangs took a 25-19 advantage into intermission.
After the break, it was more of the same. The Mustangs improved to 54.5
percent from the floor, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Green Wave
continued their shooting woes, shooting just 32 percent and 1-of-12 from
three-point distance. SMU pushed their lead to as many as 17, as they cruised
to victory and snapped an eight-game conference losing streak.
SMU converted 20 Tulane turnovers into 21 points. The Mustangs outscored the
Green Wave in the paint, 26-16.
