Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Quinn McDowell scored 21 points and pulled
down seven rebounds as William & Mary came away with a 75-71 win over Hofstra
in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Kaplan Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Tribe (6-24, 4-13 CAA) as they snapped
a two-game slide were Brandon Britt with 14 points and JohnMark Ludwick with
10 in just 17 minutes off the bench.
The Pride (9-21, 2-15) were paced by Mike Moore who delivered a game-high 25
points, shooting 11-of-12 at the free-throw line but just 6-of-17 from the
floor as the team bowed for the fifth time in six games. Nathaniel Lester
tacked on 18 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in the setback.
W&M knocked down a sizzling 65.0 percent from the field in the first half,
including 6-of-10 behind the three-point line, but the team still managed to
put up only a 42-39 lead at the break.
In the second half Hofstra hurt itself with a mere 31.3 percent shooting from
the floor and 2-of-9 beyond the arc, giving the hosts just enough room to come
up with the four-point win.
William & Mary finished the night shooting an impressive 55.6 percent from the
field.
