Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Mike Groselle scored 18 points and pulled
down eight rebounds as The Citadel registered a 62-51 win over Appalachian
State in a Southern Conference battle at McAlister Field House.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs (6-22, 3-14 SoCon) as they won
back-to-back games for the first time this season, were Bo Holston and C.J.
Bray with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Holston also pulled down a team-best
10 rebounds as well.
The Mountaineers (12-16, 7-10) were paced by Nathan Healy with a game-high 19
points, while Andre Williamson notched 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds
off the bench as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.
ASU led by four points in the opening minutes of the first half, but the team
shot only 8-of-25 from the floor and 1-of-7 behind the three-point line in the
period, allowing The Citadel to move out to a 26-19 advantage at the break.
The Bulldogs connected on 54.5 percent from the floor in the frame.
In the second half the Mountaineers again had their issues on the perimeter
(2-of-15), during which time the Bulldogs were converting 20-of-27 at the
free-throw line to secure the win.
The hosts outscored ASU by a 21-8 margin at the charity stripe.
