JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis has a broken index finger on his left hand and might need surgery to repair ligament damage.

Coach Jack Del Rio said Monday that Mathis, the team's top defensive back, will have more tests to determine the severity of the injury. Del Rio said Mathis might need surgery, but added that it would not be season-ending.

The Jaguars (3-3) are off this week.

Mathis had his left hand wrapped Monday, but left the locker room without talking to reporters. He is tied for the team lead with two interceptions this season.

The Jaguars played the last two games without three defensive starters. Linebacker Justin Durant (hip) and safety Sean Considine (groin) missed two games, and defensive end Reggie Hayward (ankle) is out for the season.
