JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The new Jacksonville Jaguars owner takes control of the Jacksonville Jaguars today.
In November, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver announced that he was selling the team to Shahid Khan, a businessman who was blocked from buying the Rams in 2010.
Today, the franchise officially became Khan's.
Wayne and Delores Weaver have owned the franchise since its inception in 1993. Weaver and Khan signed an agreement on Nov. 29 to sell the team.

The NFL's 32 team owners, in a unanimous vote, approved the sale in December. The approval was not a surprise; the NFL finance committee also unanimously approved the sale.
The sale unfolded behind the scenes for months before Weaver announced the sale.

"Parting with the Jaguars is not easy but we have great confidence in Shad and his family that the franchise is in good hands," Weaver said in a statement released by the organization today.
"It will be very different for us watching from a distance, but we look forward to many great days cheering for the Jaguars."
Weaver also thanked the fans for their years of support.
Khan said in a statement, "Let me assure (the fans) that I will do everything possible to build a consistent winner on the field, and a model franchise off the field.."
Jaguars fans have welcomed the move, thanks to comments from Weaver indicating that Khan plans to keep the team in Jacksonville. During a few of the games in the last part of the Jaguar's season, fans wore fake handlebar mustaches as an homage to Khan's trademark facial hair.
