JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Fleming Island Golden Eagles came close to playing for the boys 4A soccer state championship a season ago but they were elminated in the final four.
However, this season there was no denying a Golden Eagles team fueled by the disappointment from that loss.
The Golden Eagles have flown high behind the strong right leg of Brandon Behr.
Fleming Island's road to Tampa includes victories over Lecanto, Frank W. Springstead, Lawton Chiles and Gaither.
Fleming Island will face Seminole for the 4A state title Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Mandarin Mustangs are making their first ever appearance in the state championship game.
The Mustangs road to Tampa has been a dominate one.
Mandarin has knocked off Palm Coast, F.W. Buchholz, Lake Howell and Palm Harbor University, but if they the mustangs are going to win the school's first boys soccer title.
They'll have to find a way to beat a Cypress Bay team that according to ESPN is the top ranked soccer team in the nation.
Mandarin takes on Cypress Bay in the 5A state championship game Saturday at 4 p.m.
