"Sen. Rubio embodies an optimistic message about the future of America," said Sen. Mitch McConnell said in a news release. "Sen. Rubio will contrast Republican solutions to help usher in 'a new and prosperous American century' with the President's recent State of the Union address that called for more government and more taxes."
"President Obama has a year left in the White House," Sen. Rubio said.
"What are his plans now to make things better? What does he plan to do now and that he didn't do before? Well we got our answer on Tuesday night. He plans to divide us against each other. To pit Americans against other Americans in the hopes to generating enough votes to get re-elected."
Rubio served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008 and was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010.
He serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation; Foreign Relations; Intelligence; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees.
