JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The family of six-year-old Kaitlyn Springer, who died when she was hit by a car last Saturday in Mandarin, is seeking legal advice on her case.
Jacksonville Attorney Rick Block says he is working with the Springer family.
On Saturday, police say Nora Springer, 38, was walking her two children in the crosswalk at San Jose Boulevard and Kori Road, when the traffic light changed to green. The family of three was hit by an SUV.
Her daughter, six-year-old Kaitlyn Springer, was killed.
Nora Springer suffered a broken ankle and several broken ribs. Her five-year-old son, James, was not hurt.
A background check shows the SUV driver, 62-year-old Michael Fortunato, has a history of traffic violations.
Those violations include multiple tickets for speeding, running stop signs and driving with an expired license or registration.
No charges have been filed against Fortunato in Saturday's accident.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the case is an ongoing investigation.
