JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department is still on the scene of a fire in the Windy Hill neighborhood on the southside.

According to Tom Francis with JFRD, the fire started just before 5:00 a.m. at a doublewide manufactured home located at 4375 Loys Drive.

When firefighters arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames, but to their relief, all three people who lived inside were already out of the house.

First responders took two of the adults to Shands Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.  One other adult was transported to Baptist hospital with lesser injuries.

Francis said firefighters discovered a pet terrier dead inside the home shortly before 6:45 a.m.

The area does not have fire hydrants, so firefighters had to use tanker trucks to knock down the flames, which delayed them.  Francis said it took 20 minutes and 6,000 gallons of water to put out the home.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire, but say the home and the items inside--valued at $100,000--are a total loss.
