SANDY, Utah -- Pam Cates is whipping up a quick family dinner with her son and his girlfriend.
After almost 30 years of marriage, she was recently divorced.
Cates said she'd like to start dating again.
Her self confidence had declined, but Cates decided to do something about it.
"I am going to have rejuvenation on my face," Cates said. "It's a laser that goes in and does resurfacing."
The laser is a CO2 fractionated laser. The model she used was called SmartSkin.
Cates' co-worker told her about the procedure. When she saw pictures, she was impressed.
The laser's light energy bores tiny holes in the skin. Healthy new tissue eventually fills the holes in.
It works because between the damaged holes are untreated areas.
The laser works on all severities of wrinkles, but not to the same extent.
The laser also helps correct acne scarring and has shown some improvement with brown discolorations.
