WASHINGTON -- How much is momentum worth to Rick Santorum?
The former Pennsylvania senator's campaign says Santorum has raised more than $1 million since winning GOP presidential contests in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado on Tuesday.
Much of that cash is coming from online donations. CNN reports Santorum's website crashed due to high volume.
"We definitely are the campaign right now with the momentum, the enthusiasm on the ground," Santorum told supporters in Texas on Wednesday night.
With about three weeks before the next big Republican contests in Arizona and Michigan, Santorum plans to do a mix of fundraising and campaigning to build on his recent victories. The Associated Press reports he'll be in California this weekend to raise money.
While Santorum has managed to win four states -- half of those that have voted so far this year -- he has done so with a tiny fraction of the money his rivals have in their coffers.
Mitt Romney raised more than $56 million in 2011, which was tops in the GOP field. Santorum raised the least -- about $2.2 million -- last year.
