ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are hiring more officers, and the department is planning a career fair Monday for potential employees.
Authorities say that in the past two years, the department has hired nearly 500 new officers and is on a quest to reach a sworn force of 2,000.
Atlanta police say the job fair is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Monday at Public Safety Headquarters, 226 Peachtree Street SW in downtown Atlanta, and that anyone arriving after 8 a.m. will not be admitted.
Police said in a statement that potential candidates should dress in business attire and have a valid photo government-issued identification card. They also say that people should be prepared to be in attendance for at least six hours.
