ATLANTA -- More than 600 people packed the auditorium of an Atlanta high school Monday night to learn about a massive redistricting plan for Atlanta Public Schools.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the first citywide redistricting effort in nearly a decade could affect almost every neighborhood in the 49,000-student district.
The school district is trying to balance enrollment between schools that are as little as 20 percent full and others that are overcrowded.
At Monday night's meeting, parents voiced concerns about travel time for students, racial diversity and divided neighborhoods. It was the first of four meetings scheduled for this week.
