PALM BAY - Police continue to search for a man who used a machete to slash a man repeatedly on the head, arms and legs during a dispute last weekend.
The attack happened about last Friday on the 2100 block of Dr. Harvey Riley Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the north Palm Bay neighborhood after a 9-1-1 call reporting a man had been left bloodied and severely cut during a heated confrontation with a man with a machete.
The assailant fled the scene. Police are now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the assailant's arrest.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, underwent surgery Thursday to repair multiple lacerations to the head, arms, hands and legs, police reported. He remains in serious condition but is expected to survive.
No motive has been given for the attack but police said it was not immediately known if drug activity was involved.
