BREMEN, Ga. -- A surveillance camera at a Walmart in west Georgia has captured dramatic footage of a 7-year-old girl struggling out of the arms of a man who was trying to abduct her in the toy aisle.
Police Chief Keith Pesnell says the suspect grabbed Brittany Baxter while her mother was shopping in an adjacent aisle on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.
"I was trying to kick as hard as I can," Brittany says of her escape. The video shows the man quickly putting her down and running off.
Parking lot cameras led police to the 25-year-old suspect, Thomas Woods, who was on parole following a conviction for voluntary manslaughter. He now faces a charge of attempted kidnapping, Pesnell says.
As he was being led away in handcuffs, Woods proclaimed his innocence to reporters: "I didn't bother nobody, I wasn't there."
