JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A new federal grant coming to Duval County Public Schools will allow the district to hire almost 300 new teachers over the next three years.
Our newesgathering partner The Florida Times-Union reports the grant is from Teach for America and is worth $3.3 million. A supervisor will start recruiting people who are new to the education field soon.
The newspaper is also reporting tuition rates are likely to go up. The Florida House approved a plan with an eight percent college tuition hike, which equals about $245 million for universities and $73 million for colleges.
