PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are still searching for suspects following a shooting that left one man dead and another hospitalized over the weekend.
According to the Palatka Police Department, the call came in shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday indicating shots had been fired at an apartment on Washington Street.
When officers got the the apartment, they found 37-year-old Gerald Lamar Gibbs dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to his torso.
Shortly after their arrival, the officers got another call about a shooting victim at Putnam County Medical Center.
At the hospital, 29-year-old Trevor Brown told police he was at the apartment with Gibbs when someone started shooting.
Brown, with gunshot wounds in his abdomen and leg, said he took himself to the hospital. He was subsequently transferred to Shands Gainesville for further treatment.
Gibbs and Brown both have last known addresses in the Orlando area, but police believe they both have family in Putnam County.
Police are not sure of a motive and have not released any suspect information.
